Grocery Haul + Weekly Meal Plan

After all the pre- and post-race carbs I consumed for the Lincoln Half-Marathon on Sunday, I definitely feel like I need a little carb break.

Don’t worry, I won’t go crazy with a cleanse or anything. But my body is craving greens and fresh fruit.

So I stopped by Hy-Vee Monday after work to stock up on produce.

I bought golden beets, carrot chips, cauliflower, purple cabbage, cucumber, lemon, raspberries, mint, an avocado and bananas. I already had kale, spinach, mixed greens, a red pepper, strawberries and blueberries in my fridge.

I also bought almond milk, honey, pure maple syrup, pure almond extract, hummus and feta.

My impulse purchases were Boom Chicka Pop White Cheddar Popcorn, La Croix Coconut Sparkling Water (my new fave!) and a dark chocolate bar. Not too bad!

And then on Tuesday night I went to Target to pick up some personal care products. This is what happens when I go to Target when I’m hungry…

The only things on my Target list were coconut water and La Croix Coconut Sparkling Water (I wanted a whole pack after trying it the day before!), conditioner, face wash, a container to store my winter workout clothing and some other beauty items.

But I ended up buying a bunch of junk - Skinnygirl bars, Edy’s Slow Churned Cinnamon Bun Fun! Ice Cream, Annie’s Organic Chocolate Bunny Grahams and Dove Sea Salt Caramel Dark Chocolate. Everything was on sale! I couldn’t resist because I was hungry.

The Dove chocolates are for my candy bowl at work, which I somehow stay out of every day. I was able to convince myself that I needed everything else.

I did buy some coconut water and La Croix, but they didn’t have the coconut flavor. I ended up getting my second favorite flavor, Cran-Raspberry. It was on sale for $3!
