Georgia Food Adventures

One of my favorite things about traveling is eating! I love to try new foods from the area I'm in.

During my recent trip to Georgia, I ate some memorable meals including some delicious southern food! When I travel, I try to eat healthy most of the time and indulge in some of the regional food, special desserts or drinks. I ate healthy breakfasts every day on my trip. I picked up groceries and had oatmeal and a banana nearly every day in my hotel room in Atlanta. I also worked out, hiked and did lots of walking every day. So I got to enjoy some indulgent meals, guilt free!

Scrolling through these photos, it may look like a lot of indulgent meals, but keep in mind that I was there for 11 days! I ate pretty healthy while I was in Savannah for FitBloggin and the first few days I was in Atlanta. When the BF arrived after I had been there for six days, I indulged a bit more.

These are my absolute favorite meals from my trip...

Kayak Kafe, Savannah

The Palm Cocktail - Tito's vodka, muddled cucumber, muddled mint, pineapple juice and mineragua

Black bean, spinach and mushroom tacos with melted jack cheese, pico de gallo, Latin slaw and guacamole

Olde Pink House, Savannah

Hummingbird Cocktail - champagne, elderberry liqueur and club soda

Pan seared jumbo lump crab cake, fried green tomato and remoulade sauce

Ice cream on the pier, Tybee Island

White chocolate and almond ice cream

Pig n' Chik BBQ, Atlanta

Barbecue chicken, broccoli and hush puppies

The Vortex, Little Five Points, Atlanta

Holy Guacamole Burger - turkey burger with guacamole and jack cheese and tater tots

Laughing Skull Amber Ale

Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles, Atlanta

Salmon croquettes, grits and waffle with peach butter

Der Biergarten, Atlanta

Spaten beer

Riesenbretzel - giant pretzel served warm with three kinds of mustard (split with the BF)

Front Page News, Atlanta

Southern Hospitality Burger - turkey burger with fried green tomato, sharp cheddar, roasted red pepper, spicy remoulade on kaiser bun (didn't eat the fries)

Healthy snacks/breakfasts

This is what I had for breakfast every day that I spent at my cousin's house (I stayed there a couple of days after FitBloggin in Savannah). I ate banana slices with Larabar Renola and almond butter. At the hotel, I had Simple Truth Instant Chia Oatmeal with banana slices.
