Weekend Recap {July 11-13} - Taking a major step with the BF!

Posted July 16, 2014 in relationships, love, food, moving, healthy living

You may have noticed that Sweet Success was MIA over the past couple of days. My web host was having a meltdown, and my page wouldn't open. Super stressful on top of my already hectic life.

It's old news now, but I still wanted to share my weekend recap with you because some exciting things happened over the weekend! The BF and I started the process of moving in together this weekend! I'm so excited for this adventure! We've already had fun picking out a new couch and a shower curtain together. I have a feeling grocery shopping and cooking will be interesting. I'll keep you updated on the transition from cooking for one to cooking for two!

In addition to painting and moving all weekend, I also started a new Piloxing session through Park and Rec this week, I started to take online classes this week (more on that later) and I have a huge blog to-do list. To say the least, I'm stressed out!

But I'm taking one thing at a time, and giving myself a break if I'm not perfect!

Friday, July 11

My dad, my niece, the BF and I went over to our new place to put a second coat of paint on the walls of the kitchen. Our landlords let us pick out the paint colors for all of the rooms! I spent a lot of time picking out colors - calming for the bedroom, inspiring for our office/workout room, cheerful and reflective of our personalities for the living room and bright for the kitchen!

After a few hours of hard work we gobbled down turkey sandwiches and chips. The BF and I also celebrated our new home with beer!

Saturday, July 12

My dad and I headed over to the new house super early to finish up some painting in the kitchen and to paint the vanity in the bathroom.

We made a trip to the hardware store so I could buy contact paper for our drawers. They turned out really cute, but that's a lot of work!

The BF went back to Hastings Friday night and brought a load of stuff to the house Saturday afternoon, so we spent lots of time unloading his stuff and cleaning up the painting mess in the kitchen.

The BF and I decided to drive back to Hastings to pack more of his stuff. But when we got to Hastings, our friends Carmen and Clark asked if we wanted to ride our bikes around town. We definitely needed the work break so we showered and headed out on our bikes.

We had Mexican food and Mexican beer at Sanchez Plaza and a cocktail at WineStyles in downtown Hastings.

We also saw the Super Moon peak out from behind some clouds! It was absolutely beautiful! I will definitely miss our little bike adventures with our Hastings friends!

Sunday, July 13

I woke up extra early to start packing some of the BF’s stuff. After a few hours of packing, we were ready to drive back to Kearney.

It was a bit of a stressful trip. We were transporting some large items in the back of his truck so we had to make a few stops along the way to make sure everything was secure. Luckily, it was a beautiful day in rural Nebraska.

We finally got to the house in the early afternoon, unpacked the BF’s stuff and went to my house to start loading my belongings.

After one trip, we were both exhausted. The BF took a nap, and I went to my parent’s house to take a dip in the pool. I ended up falling asleep on a floaty.

When I woke up I got back to packing, and moved a few more things to the house.

We spent our first night in our new house Sunday night! We ran to Hy-Vee to get some groceries for our first meal in our new home and to Target to get a shower curtain so we could take showers in the morning.

The BF made Caribbean jerk chicken with black beans, pineapple and brown rice for dinner while I put away some of our kitchen utensils, dishes and appliances and some food. The meal was delicious, but a little too spicy! My lips were on fire!

I was excited to get our coffee cupboard organized. Do you think we have enough coffee?

I’m so excited to start this new chapter in our relationship. We’ve been dating for four years, and have had a long distance relationship that entire time! Living together will be so much fun.

We’ve only moved half of our stuff, and most of the things we have moved are still in boxes, but here are a few fun things that we’ve unpacked.

Bicycle doormat from Uncommon Goods

Orange couch (our first purchase together!)

My running basket in our entryway cabinet

Any advice for the BF and I?
