How was your weekend?

The BF and I enjoyed a very relaxing weekend! We did get in a few workouts, but we really practiced the art of relaxation. Sometimes it's totally necessary! In addition to doing some serious lounging, we ate a few delicious meals (both indulgent and healthy).

Here's what happened this weekend...

Friday, Sept. 5

I needed a little snack before working out after work. I made a quick smoothie - almond milk, instant coffee, frozen banana, PB2 and Perfect Fit vanilla protein powder.

The BF and I then headed out for a run. We ended up running a little over 3.5 miles!

After our run, I did my new Power Yoga DVD followed by some forearm stand practice. I can't get up on my own, but I can hold it after I get up by climbing my feet up the wall.

Then it was time for a cocktail to celebrate the weekend! I made a champs cocktail with cherry juice and champagne. (Cherry juice is good for muscle recovery!)

We made eggplant lasagna for dinner, and it was delicious!

Saturday, Sept. 6

We decided to start our Saturday with a bit of indulging. The BF picked up doughnuts! O.M.G. They were worth every calorie! Doughnuts are probably my fave sweet treat. I don't have them often, but when I do I savor every bite!

I spent the morning blogging, doing a bit of cleaning, doing laundry and getting some other household things done.

For lunch, I had leftover Raw Pad Thai over mixed greens and bulgur.

In the afternoon, the BF and I ran 5K in Yanney Heritage Park. It was beautiful, and I feel like I'm finally starting to get back into running shape after taking a break from running!

We recovered from our run with a smoothie - almond milk, frozen banana, frozen blueberries, frozen raspberries, Perfect Fit vanilla protein powder and kale.

The BF made a delicious dinner - grilled turkey burgers, green beans and Alexia Spicy Sweet Potato Fries. I also had some chardonnay.

We watched the movie, Hit and Run, before heading to bed.

Sunday, Sept. 7

I made a healthy breakfast version of Mexican tostadas. They were absolutely delicious! I'll share the recipe later this week!

The rest of the day was an absolute Lazy Sunday!

I blogged, watched Breaking Bad, read magazines...

I eventually did my Power Yoga DVD.

Lunch was leftover eggplant lasagna and a salad.

The afternoon was more laziness (watching Breaking Bad). I did, however, do a bit of baking. I had three brown bananas, so I made Banana Bread Chocolate Chip Breakfast Bars. Although I added more chocolate so they became more like dessert bars.

Later, I walked to my parents house to drop off some items I borrowed and the whole fam was there - my brother, sister-in-law and niece - watching old home movies. The movie of my brother's 13th birthday dance party was equal parts adorable and embarrassing! I danced the night away (even though I was 15 at the time) with my bestie, Lacy. We were total dorks!

The BF and I ended up having dinner with my parents and niece at Hy-Vee. I hit up the salad bar and filled my plate with spinach, yellow peppers, a hard boiled egg, cottage cheese, cucumbers and sunflower seeds topped with olive oil and vinegar. I also had some pineapple.

We ended the night with homemade s'mores. When we went camping a few weeks ago, we took s'mores ingredients but never got to make them because of the storm. So we've been occasionally making s'mores over our gas stove.

I'm definitely going into the week feeling rested!
