Weekend Recap {Sept. 12-14}

The BF and I spent the weekend carb loading...but we forgot to go running.

We went to Lincoln with my fam to celebrate my cousin's marriage. It was her second wedding reception. Remember when I went to Atlanta for her wedding in July? Read about it here. Since lots of family didn't get to travel to Atlanta for her wedding, Kristi and her husband, Avery, had a second wedding reception in Nebraska!

Here's how the weekend went...

Friday, Sept. 12

The BF and I made breakfast for dinner - turkey sausage, eggs, pancakes and fried potatoes. I also had a glass of wine, so it was more like brunch for dinner.

Saturday, Sept. 13

I woke up early to do my Power Yoga DVD. Then I made the best oatmeal ever!

Old fashioned oats, almond milk, cinnamon, almond extract, goji berries, blueberries, raspberries, honey and almond butter.

Then my parent's picked us up and we were on our way to Lincoln.

As we drove into Lincoln, my niece noticed the State Capitol and said she had learned about it at school and that she wanted to take a picture of the building. So we made an impromtu stop at the capitol! We even took a quick tour of the inside. I haven't been in there since I had to cover a legislative hearing in journalism school!

We then met my brother and sister-in-law for lunch at the Mellow Mushroom. The BF and I ordered a half Holy Shiitake Pie and half Thai Dye. Both were incredibly delicious.

After lunch, we went to Lazlo's for Kristi and Avery's wedding reception. Kristi wore her wedding dress again! It was really fun to celebrate with them again.

I drank a Third Stone from Empyrean Brewing Co., and my foam made a romantical little heart to celebrate the occasion.

I also had pound cake with strawberries and strawberry sauce, which marked the beginning of my carb loading.

We checked into the Embassy Suites and the kids hit the pool and the rest of us hit the manager's special for free drinks.

There was a big Husker game starting at 9:30 p.m., so our fam decided to order pizza. Since we had pizza for lunch, the BF and I walked to the Oven for Indian food. After a glass of wine, vegetable pakoras and some mulligatawny soup, we were too full to eat the entree we ordered to share. It was probably all the beer we drank all afternoon and evening. #fail

We took a few bites of the thimphu chicken and basmati rice, then had it boxed up to go.

When we arrived back at the hotel, the game was well into the first quarter. We didn't even watch a minute of it because we were so full. We ended up heading up to our hotel room and went to bed feeling miserable.

Sunday, Sept. 14

By some kind of miracle, I woke up without a hangover!

Breakfast was the hotel's buffet. I didn't end up eating everything I took from the buffet. I ate an omelet, two pieces of sausage, cantaloupe and a doughnut. And lots of coffee. I didn't sleep well on the hotel's pull out bed (the BF and I shared a hotel suite with my parent's and niece).

After breakfast, we all swam and soaked in the hot tub before getting ready to check out.

My parents, niece, the BF and I made a quick stop at Trader Joe's to stock up on some of our fave products...

Then we had lunch at Red Robin, which was nearby. I had a D.G.B. Turkey Burger, which is topped with oven roasted tomatoes, roasted garlic aoili and arugula tossed in citrus olive oil, and sweet potato fries. Yum! And my last heavy meal for the weekend!

We then drove back to Kearney. The BF and I spent the rest of the day lounging even though we should have been working to burn off all of the carbs and extra cals we consumed over the weekend! But I needed to watch the rest of season 2 of Breaking Bad.

We also watched Spirit of the Marathon to try to motivate ourselves to stop being lazy ; )

Luckily, Monday is the start of a new week. Time to get back on track and make healthier choices!

How do you get back on track after an indulgent weekend?
