Weekend Recap {Oct. 3-5}

Now that I'm in my 30's, I feel like a successful weekend is one that didn't include wearing any makeup, but did include working out, drinking wine and lounging around with people I love. This was definitely one of those weekends.

I had some great workouts, I ate delicious food, I hung out with my family and the BF, drank wine, spent time outside and never put on a drop of makeup. Success!

Here's what happened...

Friday, Oct. 3


When I got off work, the BF and I went for a run. We ended up doing a short 2.5 miler.

As we were getting ready to eat the BF's crockpot chili for dinner, my parents stopped by. We invited them to join us and ended up having a great family dinner! The BF also made cinnamon rolls, and I had a glass of red wine with dinner. It was delicious!

After my parents left, we headed to Target. This was my list - contact solution, eye makeup remover pads, toilet paper. I somehow spent $85! Target gets me every time. I did, however, buy this running hat for fall/winter. It has a little hole for my ponytail.

Saturday, Oct. 4

I woke up early to this...

...and made oatmeal with chia seeds, cinnamon, cardamom, aronia berries (which I'll talk about later this week), almond butter and maple syrup. 

Then I taught three classes at the Good Sam Fitness/Wellness Center. I subbed a toning/cardio interval class, a core class and a water jogging class. 

To recover, I had a Milk Shake Bar Cinnamon Bun protein shake, which the company sent me to try. It was incredibly delicious and tasted very cinnamon bun-like!

The BF left for Lincoln in the afternoon for his weekend job. I spent the afternoon working on some blog stuff, checking emails, working on my health and fitness Pinterest gift guide, taking the BF's dog for a walk and catching up on episodes of The Chew.

I also made some fresh juice. I made a a watermelon, apple, ginger juice; beet, apple, ginger juice; and a spinach, kiwi, apple, ginger juice.

I also made a Pumpkin and Dark Chocolate Mug Cake. It was good, but it wasn't anything to write home about. I wanted it to be more pumpkiny. I'll have to play with the recipe a bit.

My parents invited me over for dinner since the BF was out of town. We each made our own mini pizzas. Mine had ground turkey, onions, green peppers and mushrooms. 

I took Coda with me so he and my niece, Brynn, spent some quality time together.

Since the BF was getting home late, I took advantage of my alone time by watching the chick flick The Other Woman, giving myself a pedicure and eating some of my mom's famous pumpkin cookies. Total girly night.

Sunday, Oct. 5

I woke up super early with a splitting headache, so I laid in bed for a bit. When I finally got up, I made omelets for the BF and I. I filled them with red, orange and yellow peppers, onions, spinach, mushrooms, turkey bacon and cheese. I also had my apple cider vinegar drink and some coffee.

The morning was slow moving! I ordered some makeup from Sephora while the BF watched Long Way Down - I caught bits and pieces and it looks like an interesting show! Then the BF took a nap, so I watched Thanks for Sharing and snacked on a sliced banana with chia seeds, almond butter and dark chocolate chips.

My headache felt worse by lunchtime, and I didn't feel like I could eat so I sipped on some green juice. 

We decided we had to get out of the house since we had been so lazy all morning and for half the afternoonI ate a Clif Bar, and we drove to Cottonmill and went on a nearly 3 mile hike. It was beautiful, and being outside helped my head. 

I also wore my new top from Asics, which I'm totally in love with!! I bought it from Zulily.

After our hike, we walked to K-Town Shakedown for a one-hour flow yoga class. I was proud of the BF because he was the only guy among over 20 women! He also worked really hard, and yoga doesn't come naturally to him.

I used dinner as an opportunity to do some food prep for the week. I made my fave salad - Roasted Sweet Potato, Quinoa and Mixed Green Salad - and made extra roasted sweet potatoes and quinoa for later this week. 

And I made my morning apple cider vinegar drink for the week during my food prep.

I also enjoyed a glass of red wine and we each ate a piece of my dad's spice cake, which was absolutely amazing! My parent's went to Oktoberfest at the Catholic Church Sunday and made cake for a cake walk. My dad thoughtfully made the BF and I our own mini spice cake.

We ended the night like all fall Sundays - the BF watching football and me on my computer. So romantic!
