October Goals

I'm a chronic goal setter. I set daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and even life goals.

I feel like I function better when I'm working towards something. It makes me more productive, and there's nothing better than that feeling of accomplishing a goal!

But lately, I've been making my usual goal lists and then...nothing. The day or week will come and go and my list remains with no checks next to my goals.

Then I read a post about goals written by a blogger I met at FitBloggin. Brooke Not on a Diet creates daily, weekly and monthly goals each month and decides on a reward if she meets her goals. I totally love this idea, and I know it will help motivate me to get going on my goals!

A couple of weeks ago, I set some goals for the fall. I always think it's good to set some overall goals and then set smaller goals that will help you accomplish those larger goals. Setting monthly goals will help me accomplish those things I had my sights set on for this season.

Daily Goals:

Meditate: One of my goals for fall is to find a spiritual practice. Daily meditation will help me get there, and it will also give me time for peace and clarity each day.

Burpees: I'm doing the Lorna Jane Burpee Challenge this month! I'm teaching a ton of fitness classes this month (7 a week!), so getting in my own workouts will be a challenge. This burpee challenge will force me to do my own workout each day, even if it only takes a couple of minutes.

10,000 steps: My steps have been all over the place lately! Since the weather has cooled off, I haven't been going on as many walks during the workday. I need to force myself to walk more at work! I use my FitBit to track my steps each day!

Weekly Goals:

Juice: I want to make fresh juice once a week! I haven't been making it as often and I miss my green juice energy buzz!

Yoga Class: I love taking yoga classes, but I haven't found a yoga class I love here yet. I was going to Friday Happy Hour Yoga or Saturday Power Yoga at Avani in Hastings when the BF lived there. But now that we live together in Kearney, I can't go to Avani regularly. By taking a different yoga class each week, maybe I'll find one I love here!

Morning Pages: In my health coaching classes through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, we learned about writing morning pages. You basically do stream of consciousness writing as soon as you wake up. It allows you to get out your initial thoughts, dreams, frustrations, ideas etc. before you are clouded by the day's to-do lists, work and everything else you have going on. Followed by meditation, it's supposed to help give you some clarity on life, inspire you to pursue your dreams and help generate ideas.

Run twice a week: Running has been put on the back burner as I've been teaching more fitness classes. But I enjoy running and don't want to fall too far out of running shape.

Monthly Goals:

Read 2 books: I've been slowly reading Eat, Pray, Love since the middle of summer. I saw the movie a long time ago, but I thought I would enjoy the book, It's taking me forever though! I need a little motivation to get going on it and to pick up another book.

Save $500: Some of my fall goals include paying off a credit card and saving some money. I'll be honest, I'm not a great saver. I'm not very good at taking a step back and considering my needs vs. wants. And when I finally have money saved, it always seems like something comes up and I have to dig into my savings. Now that I'm a real adult (because I'm in my 30's, have a full-time job, etc.), I probably need to have some kind of savings.

A Fabletics outfit! I'm totally obsessed with Fabletics, as I've mentioned many times before (here and here). Although Fabletics sends me new outfit picks each month, I don't buy a new outfit every month (hello, adult responsibilities). When I do purchase an outfit, I feel a bit guilty about the splurge, since I don't actually NEED new workout clothes. Having an outfit as my reward will make me feel like I earned it!

What are your goals for the month?
