November Goals Review + December Goals

For the past few months, I've been setting daily, weekly and monthly goals to help me reach my bigger goals, and I've been sharing how I've been doing.

I hope you enjoy reading these posts. I always think it's interesting to see how people are working on themselves. I want to give you a glimpse into my successes and things I need to work on, but also inspire you to take time to set your own goals. I truly believe goal setting is key to becoming your best self!

November was better. I did well with two of my daily goals and a few of my weekly goals. My monthly goals...not so much.

Here's how I did...

Daily Goals

Drink 90 oz. of water a day - I did it every day!! I feel so much better when I'm well hydrated.

Practice self-care daily - I also accomplished this goal. My daily self-care practice was mostly small things like taking a hot shower, giving myself a facial, getting cozy in my flannel pajamas with a cup of hot tea or going to bed early. I tried to ask myself daily what would make me feel happier, more comfortable and more at peace. I absolutely loved taking a moment each day to think about what I needed.

10,000 steps daily - This was so hard since it was really freaking cold in November. I definitely don't walk as much when it's chilly outside. I took 10,000 steps 13 out of 30 days. Ugh! I used my FitBit to track my steps, and even set reminders at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to get up and move. But walking around my office on freezing cold days isn't nearly as productive as going for walks outside.

Weekly Goals

Two morning workouts a week - I did it! I got up twice a week and worked out. This one is hard for me because it's so warm and cozy in my bed, and the world outside is so cold! It helped to register for workouts like hot yoga in the morning or commit to taking a morning class.

Do yoga twice a week - I got in two yoga practices a week for three weeks! I need to make time for more! Yoga makes me feel so good!

Read two magazines a week - I accomplished this, but I received more magazines than I read! I'm drowning in magazines! 

Obviously I need to stop getting Marie Claire. And I have no idea why I get Better Homes and Gardens!

I have a feeling this is a source for my magazine problem...

I mean, how can I resist this!? This time I ordered the BF a magazine ; )

I'll be off work for nearly two weeks during the holidays. My goal is to power through that pile of mags.

Run twice a week - I got in two runs a week for two weeks. Not great. I'm still finding it hard to fit in running with all the classes I'm teaching.

Monthly Goals

Read two books - I read about half of a book (The Fit Bottomed Girls Anti-Diet, which is soooo good so far!). My goal for the year was to read 12 books. I'm at 10 so far, so I'm almost there. I'm going to finish up the book I started in November and power through another one by the end of the month!

Save $300 - I didn't really think about Black Friday when I set this goal. I bought Christmas gifts instead of saving my goal this month. I saved about 2/3 of my goal though!

Now on to my goals for December…

Daily Goals

Every day I will write down three things that I am grateful for. I truly believe that practicing gratitude daily makes you feel happier and more content. I will also practice yoga daily!! It can be just 10 minutes of yoga, but I want to get in the habit of doing yoga more often. I need the stretch, the peacefulness, the breathing and the time to look inward.

Weekly Goals

I'm sticking with my goal to run twice a week. I liked having that goal to get me to run. I will also get back to a regular meditation practice. In October, I meditated almost every day! I don't think I meditated once in November. I will mediate three times a week in December.

Monthly Goals

I'm going to work towards my New Year's goal to read 12 books this year, and finish up two books by the end of the year! 

I'm also going to get my life together a bit. I'm taking health coaching classes through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and I can start taking clients in January!! I'm absolutely thrilled about this, but I have so much to do to get ready. I'm going to take some time to get things organized.

This is going to be the hardest goal - I'm not going to buy anything for myself in December!! I don't mean food or necessities. I mean workout clothes, shoes and other random stuff that I buy for myself somewhat regularly. It's just the time of year to be thinking of others. I also need to keep myself on a budget, and I get easily thrown off by sales. I can somehow always justify buying myself a new pair of workout leggings or pair of shoes if they are on super sale!

Reward

I'm sticking with the same reward as last month because I really need a massage!
