Is it really Monday already? The weekend flew by!

My weekend was very Christmasy! I threw a holiday party, I looked at Christmas lights, I wrapped gifts, I watched Christmas movies, I wrote my Christmas cards, I bought some seasonal tea and I did some Christmas shopping. I love this time of year!

Here's what I did this weekend...

Friday, Dec. 12

I went dark with my haircolor (and got a pretty major trim)!

When I got home, I had a box from Mama Chia! They sent me some of their new organic energy beverage. After I try it, I'll let you know what I think.

I spent the early evening getting ready for my Healthy Holiday Cocktail Party! For the past couple of months, I've been having healthy dinner parties. (Find out about the September and October dinner parties).

This month, I changed things up and asked local businesses to donate items to fill healthy holiday gift bags full of things that would help my guests stay healthy during the holidays. Everyone was so generous and all the guests went home with great things! I'll share more about the party in another post!

Check out the sparkly Be Merry garland I made for our bar for the party! I'm totally in love with it.

Saturday, Dec. 13

I got up super early for a 6 a.m. hot power yoga class. I'm not sure why I registered for a 6 a.m. class the morning after throwing a party, but luckily the healthy holiday cocktail party wasn't a late night party and I only had two small glasses of champagne.

I really struggled in yoga. My balance was off, and I strugged with the one-legged chair poses we did. But I enjoyed getting really sweaty, and my arms were sore the next day after all the sun salutations we did. I'm feeling a bit disconnected from my body. I had a DEXA-scan last week and I wasn't thrilled with the results. It's so crazy that a number can change the way we feel about our bodies!! But at the end of my yoga class, the instructor said, "love your vessel and your vessel will love you." It was a good reminder to just keep doing what I'm doing to take care of myself.

For breakfast, I made gingerbread pancakes! They were sooooo good. I'll share the recipe with you later this week!

Here's a little behind the scenes photo that the BF posted on his Facebook page. He wrote, "This is what happens when your girlfriend writes a health and fitness blog and takes food pics. You get stuck with the ugly pancakes." It's true. I make mine pretty, and he gets the pancakes that aren't circular on our chipped plates.

The rest of the day was spent in my flannel pajamas.

It was productive though! I spent the day...

In the evening, the BF was gone for his weekend job in Lincoln. My parent's came over with my niece and we watched the end of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer then drove around looking at Christmas lights. There were three houses that had their lights synchronized to music on a radio station! It was pretty cool.

I was absolutely exhausted from getting up so early. I went to bed shortly after my parents dropped me off.

Sunday, Dec. 14

The BF and I decided to try the HyVee brunch buffet for breakfast. I had a made-to-order omelet with peppers, mushrooms, asparagus and tomatoes.

Then I had a waffle and a cinnamon roll. I also ate some fresh fruit and smoked salmon. It was all delicious!

We picked up some groceries while we were there. My fave purchase was Bigelow's Peppermint Bark tea. I'm in love with all the seasonal teas! I really like Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride. I've been trying to find their Gingerbread Spice and Candy Cane Lane flavors.

We also bought the dog an elf collar. He's not super into it, but he looks so cute!

After brunch and shopping, we drove to Grand Island to visit the BF's sister and her kids and to do some Christmas shopping. I'm almost done with my shopping, but the BF has barely started. Our trip wasn't super productive, but I did pick up a cooling rack at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It will be perfect for my holiday cookie baking.

The BF made spaghetti and turkey meatballs with garlic bread for dinner. I also had some leftover kale salad from Friday night's party.

Are you feeling Christmasy yet?
