Happy Monday!

I had a relaxing and sleep-filled weekend, which was exactly what I needed. Last weekend, I didn't get much rest and I was feeling it all week.

We did make time for fun…the BF and I celebrated Halloween with friends, we enjoyed two date night dinners out, and I got out and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather with my family.

Here are some details from the weekend....

Friday, Oct. 30

I stayed home from work Friday because I had a major migraine. I spent the day laying on the couch with peppermint essential oil on my temples and my ice pack on my head. I made turmeric milk for the first time, and it was delicious. I read my book club book off and on when I could.

I try not to take pain reliever, but I took Advil in the morning because the pain was so bad. It didn't do anything. I finally caved and took Excedrin, and I started to feel a bit better around 4 p.m.

The BF and I decided to have a date night (mostly because the BF wanted to have a steak...something we rarely cook at home since I don't eat beef). We went to the Alley Rose. I had a brie turkey apple sandwich and green beans. It's such a weird restaurant. The food is pretty good, but the atmosphere is super outdated. It's also a bit overpriced for what they serve (burgers, sandwiches, potato casseroles, etc.).

After dinner, we went to the World Theatre to go to the Escape the Underworld haunted house. It was sold out! Total Halloween fail.

We went home, and I fell asleep while I was reading…before 10 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 31

The BF went to work at his new job at 6 a.m. My headache was back, and food didn't sound great. But I ate eggs and a piece of whole wheat toast for breakfast anyway. Energy!

I really didn't want to have another day on the couch, so I took Excedrin. Ugh. I felt better shortly after, and I went to power yoga class. We listened to Halloween music during our practice. It was pretty creepy listening to the them from the Exorcist during child's pose!

After yoga, I went shopping! I made a Target run to pick up some random things. What I needed - peppermint tea, pumpkin, wine and Kick Your Sugar Cravings Workshop giveaway prizes. What I bought - Among Friends Natural Cookie Mix (clearance), Purity Orgnic Orange Carrot Mango Turmeric Juice (on sale), Reece's Peanut Butter Pumpkins, microwaveable rice and farro, walnuts and a Larabar. Target gets me every time.

I also stopped at Starbucks and ordered a Salted Caramel Mocha Latte (coconut milk, one pump of caramel, one pump of mocha, no whip, no caramel drizzle). So good, and not too sweet.

Then I swapped my spring/summer and fall/winter clothes. It felt good to put away my maxi dresses and get out my sweaters. I also went through my workout clothes. I have 30 pairs of workout leggings!!! Don't tell the BF.

For lunch, I had a kale, Brussels sprouts, apple and cheddar salad. I'll share the recipe with you soon. It's the perfect fall salad!

The BF got home from work a few hours late, so he scrapped his Halloween costume plans and we headed right to Grand Island. I still wore my costume ; )

We stopped to see his niece and nephew in their Halloween costumes - a killer whale and Superman - so cute! Then we had dinner at Royal Indian Cuisine, a new restaurant that is amazing! We shared vegetable pakora. I had vegetable korma, which was incredible. I can't wait to go back there! (Indian food is difficult to photograph.) This is the closest Indian restaurant to us, so we will be making trips to Grand Island often to go there!

We drove to Hastings for a Halloween party hosted by our friends Betsy and Tony. They had great decorations!

And I won some flash tattoos for my sexy Little Red Riding Hood costume. We had a fun night catching up with friends. There were some great costumes - a unicorn, Bob and Tina from Bob's Burgers, Cruella DeVille (my dream costume), Rosie the Riveter, some biker chicks and others I can't think of. I enjoyed a couple glass of red wine, and I ate my Reece's Peanut Butter Pumpkin when I got home. I successfully avoided a Halloween candy binge!

Sunday, Nov. 1

The BF had to work at 6 a.m. again. I made pumpkin French toast scramble for breakfast. I'll share the recipe soon! It's so good!

I blogged until my niece, Brynn, called and asked if I wanted to go on a park adventure. My parents and Brynn picked me up, and we went to Harmon Park, Cottonmill Park and the Fitness Pad at Yanney Park.

I love going to Cottonmill Park. It's so beautiful. The leaves are already falling off of the trees though!

Brynn and I explored some trails. We came across two white kittens and spent a lot of time trying to get close to them. Brynn really wanted to hold one, but they were pretty timid…and probably wild.

We took a break in between parks to grab lunch at Qdoba. I tried their new street tacos. They weren't that great. I'll stick with my usual brown rice burrito bowl next time.

I spent the afternoon reading, drinking a green coconut smoothie and eating Snapea Crisps. The BF arrived home around 2 p.m., so we caught up with each other and relaxed.

I also made homemade deodorant and meal planned for the week.

We ended up having dinner with my parents, brother, sister-in-law and Brynn. We had pizza.

We headed to bed early to get some much needed sleep!

It was a great low key weekend. I definitely needed to spend some time resting and relaxing, so I was glad I made it a priority! I ended up eating out a lot over the weekend, so this week I'll be focusing on eating healthy food at home.

What was the highlight of your weekend?
