Weekend Recap {Feb. 5-7, 2016}

We're at the start of another week. The weekend flew by, as usual.

I'm not feeling super hot today. I'm having some pretty terrible pain in my jaw that's causing a headache and ear ache. I'm pretty sure I have TMJ, which causes me to clench my teeth when I sleep, which causes headaches, neck pain and jaw pain.

I got a mouth guard from my dentist to protect my teeth about a year and a half ago, but I still clench my teeth. All the relaxation techniques I've tried - yoga, meditation, drinking CALM, drinking Nighty Night tea, using essential oils - haven't worked. So I'm making an appointment to see a chiropractor this week. I'll let you know how it goes.

Although the week is off to a rough start, I had a great weekend! Here's a recap...

Friday, Feb. 5

After work, I went to the Kearney Area Young Professionals Network happy hour at Buffalo Wild Wings. I enjoyed a Samuel Adams Cold Snap while I chatted with some people.

When I got home, I made avocado toast topped with eggs...something I've been eating a lot of lately.

Then my mom and my niece, Brynn, picked me up for a Target run. Brynn had a list of organizational items for her "lamination station." I absolutely love her need to be organized. I feel the same way. My mom ended up buying me a dress to wear to my Kick Your Sugar Cravings Workshop on Saturday.

I spent the rest of the night getting ready for my workshop.

Saturday, Feb. 6

Breakfast was sauteed kale and onions, roasted sweet potato and eggs.

Then I went to yoga. It was a cold, but beautiful morning.

After power yoga class at the Wellness Center at CHI (which was taught by Mary, and so so good), I stopped at the gym to run 2 miles.

I recovered with a green smoothie - almond milk, spinach, frozen banana, Vega Protein and Greens and coconut oil.

I did some last minute preparations for my workshop.

Then got ready for my workshop!

I ended up having 15 people come to learn about how to conquer their sugar cravings! I was so grateful for everyone who came. And everyone seemed to be really open minded and ready to learn. I love doing these workshops!

After the workshop, I had coffee with Lauren from the Curtain and Pen. We're working on a little project together, so we talked about that and other fun stuff.

Then it was time for sweatpants and taco socks.

Organizing my essential oils.

Celebrating workshop success with a glass of wine.

And enjoying my favorite comfort food - a grilled cheese sandwich with apple slices and camembert on homemade bread.

Sunday, Feb. 7

Breakfast was an omelet with onion, kale, Brussels sprouts and feta, an English muffin and green juice with apple cider vinegar.

I was really tired because our dog was up all night coughing. I think he has allergies. So the morning was spent watching Chelsea Does... on Netflix. It's such a good documentary series! So interesting and beautifully filmed, and she asks great questions during her interviews.

I took a short nap before lunch, which was leftover cauliflower soup and homemade garlic rolls.

The BF left for work before 2 p.m., and I went to the gym shortly after. I had a 4 mile run on my half-marathon training plan. The run felt pretty good, although the treadmill gets so boring. I recovered with a delicious smoothie - almond milk, Perfect Fit chocolate protein powder, 1/2 frozen banana and frozen blueberries.

After running, I meal planned. Lots of vegetarian meals this week. I haven't been feeling meat lately.

Then I went to the grocery store. I picked up ground turkey because it was on sale. We only buy meat when it's on sale, then we put it in our freezer. Healthy eating money saving tip!

I roasted a bunch of veggies.

Dinner was roasted carrots and Brussels sprouts and spaghetti squash with leftover turkey marinara sauce. Since the BF was working, I didn't watch the Super Bowl. I usually like making fun football foods and watching the commercials, but I wasn't going to watch a football game by myself for commercials and food. I ended up watching the documentary, Amy, which is about Amy Winehouse. She had such an amazingly beautiful voice, but lived such a tragic life.

It was a great weekend full of delicious healthy food, good workouts, a successful workshop, fun and relaxation.

Did you make healthy choices during the Super Bowl or indulge in football snacks?

Also, I finally joined Snapchat and I've been sharing lots of photos and videos! You'll get a look at what the life of a health coach looks like each day! I share food, workouts and other fun stuff. Make sure you follow me there!
