Weekend Recap {Feb. 12-14, 2016}

I can't believe we're already back to Monday. I know I say this all the time, but weekends go by way too fast.

I'm feeling pretty cranky today. I didn't sleep well last night, and I'm starting a very busy week with piles of laundry, a sink overflowing with dirty dishes and an overall dirty house. This makes me feel incredibly overwhelmed. I'll be teaching fitness classes or meeting with clients every evening after work, so getting these things done won't be easy. Take a deep breath!

Despite going into the week feeling like a mess, I had a great weekend. I ended up doing a lot more than I anticipated, but there was lots of celebrating! Here's a look at my weekend...

Friday, Feb. 12

I got off work and poured myself a glass of wine. It was a long and challenging week, and I was ready to relax. 


I listened to Hungry Makes me a Modern Girl by Carrie Brownstein on Audible while I cooked dinner.


I made a Buddha bowl with tofu, red and green peppers, Brussels sprouts, kale and brown rice. I used this Buddha sauce recipe, and it was so so delicious.

I watched the movie While We're Young on Amazon Prime, and it was really good. Definitely worth watching!

Saturday, Feb. 13

Breakfast was Banana Oat Muffins with pumpkin butter, a banana with natural peanut butter and chia seeds, warm water with lemon and coffee.


I went to the Wellness Center at CHI for a quick run then went to power yoga class there. Mary taught a great hip opening class and focused on the sacral chakra. I'm obsessed with my new Knockout by Victoria's Secret High-Rise Tight that I got for free when I bought a sports bra (best sale ever!). They are incredibly comfortable, stay in place, have a high rise and they have a fun, bright print. 


It wouldn't be a Saturday without a coffee selfie. I love my Saturday morning routine of going to yoga class then coming home and drinking coffee. 


I quickly got ready and drank a green smoothie (almond milk, kale, Vega Protein and Greens, frozen banana) before heading to the Kearney Literacy Council book sale. I'm on the literacy council board and the book sale is one of our biggest fundraisers each year. 


I always enjoy looking through the books and chatting with people. I only took one book home this time.


I met my parent's for lunch at Panera. I had the new Ricotta Sacchettini Pasta with Chicken Broth Bowl, and it was delicious. Then I met up with my brother and sister-in-law to shop for my mom's birthday gift.


When I got home, I relaxed for a bit and ate Gluten-Free/Egg-Free Cookie Dough. This is one of my favorite sweet treats! I make this whenever I'm craving an indulgent dessert.


That evening, the BF and I got dressed up and went to dinner to celebrate Valentine's Day. I sipped some wine while I got ready. I'm obsessed with this Marc by Marc Jacobs clutch that my friend, Rachel, gave me for Christmas. It has planets and stars all over it! 


We went to Sozo, but they weren't taking walk ins. I was pretty bummed (because I wanted their kale caesar salad topped with crab cakes!), but we ended up going to Market Grille and we had a wonderful time talking about our future and being lovey dovey.


We shared crab dip and pita chips, and I had a Caesar salad with salmon. 

Sunday, Feb. 14

Happy Valentine's Day! 


I delivered a box of Panera scones to my mom in the morning to wish her a Happy Birthday/Happy Valentine's Day. I enjoyed a scone and drank some coffee.

I relaxed, watched Real Housewives and ate a banana with almond butter while my Garmin charged. Then I decided I didn't want to run outside because there's still ice on the ground and I had slipped and fell on the ice twice the week before (walking not running). So I went to the gym when it opened at noon.


I ran 5 miles then did five 30-second hill sprints on the treadmill. It was a pretty challenging run, but I kept reminding myself that getting through those challenging runs just makes me stronger. I tried to capture a photo of my incredibly red face after I ran, but the photo doesn't do it justice. I looked like a tomato.


I recovered with a blueberry chocolate smoothie - almond milk, frozen blueberries, frozen banana, Perfect Fit Chocolate protein powder, a splash of coffee. Yes, I wore the same leggings two days in a row! I love them!!!


I showered, then ate my leftover Buddha bowl. The BF arrived home from work, and napped while I meal planned, planned my workouts for the week and wrote my appointments and meetings in my Passion Planner. 


We picked up my dad then shopped for desserts for my mom's birthday celebration. My mom's birthday is on Valentine's Day! 


We had a low key night eating pizza and desserts and hanging out. 

I got to celebrate Valentine's Day with lots of people that I love, so it was definitely special.
