I don't know about you, but I'm all about green right now!

Spring is on its way in and the trees will shed their brown leaves for fresh green ones, the BF and I are starting to plan our garden, salads are starting to sound more appetizing and St. Patrick's Day is almost here!

In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day and the arrival of spring, I recreated a Shamrock Shake! But, this version is super super healthy. When I was browsing recipes online, I noticed that a lot of at-home lower calorie versions contain fat-free or low-fat ingredients and food coloring.

My version is made with REAL food. And it's still incredibly delicious.

Before we get to the recipe, here's what you need to know about McDonald's Shamrock Shake...

A small Shamrock Shake has over 500 calories and over 80 grams of sugar! If the nutrition stats don't phase you, then maybe the ingredient list will. A Shamrock Shake contains whipped cream that's made with carrageenan, which has been recognized as a human carcinogen. The ice cream base contains artificial vanilla flavor and carrageenan. The Shamrock Shake syrup contains high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup and sugar, as well as artificial colors. (source)

While the McD's version of the Shamrock Shake has about 50 ingredients (!!!), my version has just five whole food ingredients. I used an all-natural vegan protein powder to keep this shake as whole as possible.

Try it and let me know what you think! Cheers to a happy spring!

5-Ingredient Super Healthy Shamrock Shake

1 banana

3-4 mint leaves, or more to taste
