Last week, my mom and I flew to Atlanta to visit my cousin, her husband and their new baby. My aunt from Omaha was there visiting as well.

It was a wonderful trip full of laughs, baby snuggles, good food and exploring. My mom and I went without any set plans. We've both been to Atlanta a few times and have done most of the touristy stuff. We just wanted to go with the flow and spend time with family. My cousin had planned a few fun outings for us, but we also spent lots of time just relaxing at her house.

The highlight of the trip was actually something I don't have any photos of -- me leading a short yoga practice for my cousin, mom and aunt. I haven't laughed that hard in a long long time.

Here's a recap of my trip to Atlanta…

Exploring

Ponce City Market

Ponce City Market is an old Sears, Roebuck & Co. building that was transformed into a marketplace for food and shopping. The building also has apartments and commercial space.

We spent lots of time catching up.

It's very industrial looking, but there are cute shops and restaurants.

You can walk through Ponce City Market and get to the Beltline.

The Beltline

The Beltline is a huge revitalization effort that provides a network of public parks, trails and transit along a historic 22-mile railroad.

When its complete, there will be 33 miles of multi-use trails.

There's great art along the Beltline.

I spotted this adorable tiny door on a curb.

The Shops at Buckhead

This is a super fancy area of Buckhead with stores like Tom Ford, Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, La Perla and Hermes. We obviously didn't shop here, but we were in the neighborhood for dinner so we walked around and window shopped.

International Farmer's Market, Decatur

My cousin knows I like food and grocery shopping, so she wanted me to see the farmer's market she shops. This place was huge and featured tons of produce, spices, herbs, nuts, seeds and more from around the world.

I bought some Georgia honey and some organic coffee.

Food

Farm to Ladle, Ponce City Market

I had a chickpea avocado sandwich and a mushroom beet salad. Both were delicious, and I was excited to find a restaurant with fresh ingredients.

Shake Shack, The Shops at Buckhead

I ordered a Shroom Burger, which was fried portobello mushroom filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheese, topped with lettuce and tomato. So so good.

I also had a salted caramel shake, which may have been the best shake I've ever had.

The Shake Shack also had the best rooftop patio.

Kale Me Crazy

My cousin wanted to take me here because they have acai bowls. I was super excited because I've only made homemade acai bowls. I was so excited to try a restaurant version.

It didn't disappoint. This smoothie bowl was so delicious.

Antico Pizza

This Napoli style pizza was so delicious. Probably in my top five best pizzas. I had margherita pizza, which has tomato, fresh mozzarella and basil.

Newk's Eatery

We grabbed salads from this casual restaurant after our morning at the farmer's market. I had a kale caesar salad that was delicious…and huge!

Dancing Goats Coffee, Ponce City Market

I can't resist a cold brew coffee.

Vegetarian meal at home

My cousin was so sweet and made a vegetarian meal since I'm meat-free at the moment. She bought mushroom ravioli at the farmer's market and made roasted acorn squash topped with honey, coconut oil and thyme and roasted Brussels sprouts with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and Parmesan. It was so good!

Other

It was so great to spend so much time with my mom. I loved this mother/daughter trip so much. This needs to happen again.

It was hot in Atlanta. So humid and stagnant. I couldn't stop sweating. We spent lots of time indoors. I suppose you get used to it.

My mom, left, is obsessed with babies and couldn't get enough of baby time.

My cousin made a delicious bulletproof-like coffee with my favorite vanilla plant protein, and it was soooo good! She combined coffee with grass-fed organic butter and this vanilla plant protein powder. Wow. Delicious.

What an amazing trip! I'm not ready to be out of vacation mode, but let's be real, I could stay in vacation mode all the time.
