Yosemite National Park Hiking Packing List

Yosemite National Park is the perfect hiking destination! Here's a list of what I packed (and what I wish I would have packed) for my hiking adventure!

I just returned from an epic hiking adventure in Yosemite National Park! I'll share more about the trip as soon as I edit all the photos I took, but in the meantime I wanted to share my packing list (and what I wish I would have packed).

Each hiking adventure the fiancé and I have is another learning experience. I was really happy with all the gear that I packed on this trip, and there were a few things I should have taken.

Here's a look...

Athleta Trekkie Bermuda 2.0

I wore these shorts during our 14 mile hike toward Half Dome and the next day on a few shorter hikes, and they were perfect. These shorts are extremely comfortable, were the perfect length and looked flattering.

I also bought the Athleta Trekkie Jogger 2.0, but it was too hot to wear pants. The joggers will be perfect for our next Colorado hiking adventure though.

Camelbak 3 Liter Crux Reservoir

I actually bought this in the Yosemite outdoor store after our first day of hiking. I didn't have nearly enough water for our long hike, and was extremely dehydrated in the hot temperatures.

This is an absolute must!

Salomon X Ultra Mid 2 GTX Hiking Boots

Before this trip, I only had trail running shoes. I knew we were going on some longer hikes, and hiking boots would be a more supportive option. I ordered these hiking boots online mostly because they came in hot pink and had good reviews.

They ended up being perfect. After two days of hiking, I didn't have any blisters.

*I did break them in before the trip and I wore lightweight wool hiking socks during our hikes.

Osprey Daylite Plus Daypack

I took this 20 liter backpack to store my water reservoir, snacks, lunch, sunscreen, extra water bottle, phone and camera during our hikes. It was the perfect size and comfortable.

Minerals & Antioxidants Powder (electrolyte replacement drink)

In my hiking backpack, I stored a bottle of water with Minerals & Antioxidants to-go packets. The powder contains organic coconut water, which provides natural electrolytes.

This ended up being absolutely necessary with the hot temperatures in California.

I drank a bottle of water with the Minerals & Antioxidant powder before we left each morning, then carried a bottle with me during our hikes.

Canon Rebel

Taking my "big" camera was a must for me. The views at Yosemite were absolutely gorgeous, and I'm so glad I got to capture them with my Canon. The photos turned out beautifully.

Coola Sport SPF 50 Face Sunscreen

I love this sunscreen because it's made without toxic ingredients. I will admit that I didn't reapply often enough and my face - especially at my hairline - got burned.

This sunscreen is 80-minute water resistant, and I was sweating buckets during our hikes. I should have reapplied every time we stopped for breaks.

FitBit Charge 2 HR

I wore my FitBit during our hikes so that I could see how far we hiked. On our first day of hiking, I took over 40,000 steps!

Other Things I Packed...

  • Larabars
  • Clif Nut Butter Filled Bars
  • Trail Mix
  • Granola
  • Head Lamp
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Light tank tops
  • Flannel shirt
  • Extra water bottle
  • Pain reliever
  • Resealable plastic bag for trash
  • Rain jacket
  • Lip balm with SPF

What I Wish I Would Have Packed...

I can't wait to share more about this trip. Yosemite is such a magical place!
