We’re going sugar free in April!
Before we get started, I want to share some important information and some tips to help you have a successful Sugar Free April.
Sugar Free April Tips…
1. Read Nutrition Labels
We’ll be avoiding refined sugar and added sugars.
Most processed food has added sugar, so you’ll become a pro at reading ingredient lists by the end of April!
Besides cakes, cookies, candy and ice cream, sugar is found in bread, salad dressing, spaghetti sauce, crackers, ketchup, yogurt, cereal, fruit snacks, granola bars, sports drinks, soda, canned soup, dried fruit, canned fruit, granola, trail mix, fruit juice and more.
The food industry uses many names for sugar. These are some of the names of sugar…
We’ll also be avoiding artificial sweeteners…
Aspartame – NutraSweet, Equal
Saccharin – Sweet N Low
Sucralose – Splenda
2. Focus on Whole Foods
The goal of Sugar Free April is to get us eating more real food and less processed food.
What is real food?
Fruit, Vegetables, Whole Grains, Proteins, Legumes, Healthy Fats
3. Be Kind to Yourself
If many of the processed foods listed above are part of your daily diet, you will most likely experience some withdrawal symptoms in the first couple of weeks.
Studies have found sugar to be just as addictive as drugs like cocaine.
Make sure you are taking care of yourself by drinking plenty of water, eating lots of nourishing whole foods, getting enough sleep and practicing self-care. Stick with it! You will feel better by the end of the month.
I know that life gets busy, and getting all of your nutrients from food can be challenging. Which is why I drink a Greens Blend.
The Life’s Abundance Greens Blend nourishes your body with a blend of raw, certified-organic grasses plus certified, organic mushrooms.
It has a delicious-yet-subtle berry flavor and silky smooth texture. It mixes easily with water or into your favorite smoothie. It is one of the best tasting GMO-free greens blends on the market and leaves no “grassy” aftertaste.
This is a simple way to help you reach the recommended 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. It’s also vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, sugar-free and free or artificial sweeteners!
