PiYo Class Review

*The Kearney Family YMCA invited me to try out a PiYo class. All opinions are my own.

I recently took a PiYo class at the Kearney Family YMCA. This is a new class at their gym. It launched in January!

This was actually my second PiYo class. I tried PiYo for the first time at KTown Shakedown. But I always need to try a class a few times and by different instructors before I can form an opinion.

Before I get into my thoughts, let's discuss the details of PiYo. It's a low impact workout that combines Pilates and yoga-inspired moves to burn fat and sculpt lean muscles (source). You are in constant motion during the workout, which keeps your heart rate up to help you burn more calories.

Week of Workouts {Nov. 16-22, 2015}

Happy Monday!

I'm late posting my workouts from last week because I took the weekend off from the computer, phone, social media, blogging, etc. and spent the weekend hanging out with friends in a cabin at a state park. It was a wonderful weekend, and a much needed break! I'll share more soon!

My goal for the week was to get in 420 minutes of exercise, do yoga or Pilates 4-5 times and go running at least once.

Thanks to two days of hiking, I got in 595 minutes of exercise for the week! I made it to two Pilates classes, but didn't make time for yoga or running.

And I, apparently, didn't take any sweaty selfies last week! I was off my game. I'll get back on it this week ; )

My goal for this week, is to get in 450 minutes of exercise, get back to yoga (3 times at least!) and go running at least once.

Week of Workouts {Nov. 23-29, 2015}

Happy Monday!

I'm once again late posting my workouts from last week. My goal is to post these on Sundays. But I took a little break from blogging over the long holiday weekend ; )

I'm sharing my workouts because I'm participating in the Holiday Sweat Challenge with Sweat Pink and Run to the Finish. Each week, I'm setting fitness goals for myself so that I stay active and healthy during the holidays.

My goal for last week was to get in 450 minutes of exercise, do Pilates or yoga three times and go running at least once.

I only got in 195 minutes of exercise. I had planned on working out a lot more over Thanksgiving weekend, but I had a headache Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and wasn't feeling up to much movement.

I was finally feeling better on Sunday, so I went for a run at the gym. This is proof that a participating in a challenge like this is motivation! I very rarely go to the gym on the weekends, and I typically don't workout on the weekends unless I'm going to a yoga class or going on a hike. Go me!
