I can't believe that I'm almost finished with yoga teacher training! I only have one weekend left!

This weekend was incredibly physical and intense. Last week was a very emotional week, so I wasn't super excited about being immersed in yoga all weekend. But teacher training ended up being a good distraction.

Summer is officially here, which means more hours of sunshine, spending more time outdoors and wearing all the maxi dresses!

I absolutely love this time of year. Even though I no longer have summers off, (remember those days?) I still think there's a feeling of freedom in the summertime. 

Maybe it's the longer days or all the opportunities to play outside. 

I've had people tell me that it's harder to eat healthy in the summer because of all the outdoor barbecues, summer cocktails and travel. 

I actually think it's easier to make healthy choices in the summer with the abundance of in-season fresh produce. The body also changes with the seasons, and we tend to crave lighter foods this time of year like giant salads and smoothies. And there's always room in our diets for summer cocktails and our favorite grilling out foods.

Beauty Greens Smoothie

While I believe that using non-toxic skincare and beauty products is important, I believe it's just as important to nourish your skin by eating a healthy diet. 

I notice a major difference in my skin when I'm eating well. When my diet is full of nourishing greens, healthy fats and protein, and I'm drinking plenty of water, my skin is glowing. 

When I'm eating more sugar, enjoying more cocktails than usual or if I have a couple slices of pizza, my skin breaks out, isn't as glowy, and my under eye circles and wrinkles are more pronounced. 

I love the way that I feel when my skin looks and feels healthy, so I'm all about filling my diet with those skin nourishing foods. Lately, I've been drinking a green smoothie with some special ingredients that have specific skin benefits.
