I don't mind drinking plain old water, but I love water that has been infused with fresh fruit, herbs or vegetables.

If you find it difficult to drink enough water throughout the day, I highly recommend trying infused water. It adds a hint of delicious flavor.

You also get an added nutrition boost because the minerals, antioxidants and nutrients from the produce you use, gets infused into the water!

When the BF and I were in Colorado for Bolder Boulder, we ate at Lyfe Kitchen in Boulder on Pearl Street. I ordered Ginger Mint Chia Water, and my life was changed.

It was so refreshing, and had my love - chia seeds.

I eat chia seeds every single day. The BF couldn't believe when I ran out of the giant container of chia seeds from Costco. I can't help myself. And it's not like I ate a bulk container of Oreos!

Chia seeds are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and are super hydrating because they absorb tons of water. They also contain fiber, protein, calcium, magnesium and other nutrients.

During the hot and humid summer months, I'm always a lot more conscious of how much water I'm drinking.

Year round, I aim to drink three of my 30-ounce bottles of water a day (more if I've had a tough workout). But I find myself feeling more thirsty in the summer or getting a dull headache when I'm out in the heat for too long. It just takes more effort to stay hydrated in the summer, especially if you're spending a lot of time outdoors.

Although I love water and don't usually have trouble drinking lots of water throughout the day, I know there are people out there that don't love water. Lucky for you, there are lots of foods that can help with hydration!

Infused Chia Water

Chia water has been my favorite drink this summer. It's super simple to make, tastes delicious and gives you a natural energy boost. 

I discovered chia water last summer during a trip to Boulder, Colorado. I ordered a Ginger Mint Chia Water at Lyfe Kitchen on Pearl Street. I was immediately obsessed, and knew I could recreate it at home (for a fraction of the cost of a restaurant version).

Chia seeds are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and are super hydrating because they absorb tons of water. They also contain fiber, protein, calcium, magnesium and other nutrients. Chia seeds are also said to give you an energy boost.

When chia seeds are soaked in a liquid, a gelatinous coating forms around the seed. This makes the seeds easy to swallow. But if you have texture issues, you may not be a fan of chia water. Just a warning.

Can you believe that I just recently tried rosé for the first time?!? 

I always thought rosé was similar to moscato, which I can't handle. Too sweet. But rosé is closer in taste to chardonnay or pinot grigio, which makes it perfect for summer!

I decided to add pretty pink ice cubes filled with fruit to my rosé to make it even more pretty and summery. This would be the perfect wine cocktail for a girl's night, at a fancy backyard party or at a pool party.

Let's be clear, when I say beach, I mean the swimming beach at a lake. I'm from Nebraska, and there are no oceans nearby, so we're stuck with heading to nearby lakes to get our beach fix. 

My parents have always had a pool in their backyard, so that's usually my go to swimming destination in the summer. But my parents recently moved, and they don't have a pool yet. 

So the fiancé and I have been exploring the swimming beaches at lakes near our town. 

It's been fun to go on mini adventures on the weekends to check out new places, soak up the sun and relax in the water.
