Chocolate Chia Pudding

Posted February 10, 2015 in chocolate, self-love, Self-Love February and 6 more

Chia pudding is one of my fave sweet treats! It's super easy to whip together, it's delicious and it's full of nutrients.

Chia seeds are full of fiber, antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids. What's better than satisfying your sweet tooth and nourishing your body?

I usually just throw together some almond milk, chia seeds and a natural sweetener, but I decided to make a chocolate version to satisfy my chocolate cravings.

It was delicious!

I can't believe it's already the last week of February! This month flew by.

Last week, I challenged you to give yourself three compliments every day. I thought this was challenging! Especially one day when I was a bit down because I was comparing myself to others in a fitness class (yes, I do that too!). But as soon as I came up with three compliments, I instantly felt better.

This week's challenge will help you learn to listen to your body.

Learning to Love Yourself More {Part 2}

Posted February 12, 2016 in self-love, Self-Love February, self-esteem and 4 more

This month, I'm sharing tips to help you learn to love yourself more! Last week, I shared ways to incorporate more self-care into your life. (read about it here!)

This week, I want to talk about authenticity. One thing that I've realized over the years is that the more that I am my true self, the more I like myself.

Throughout our lives, we feel pressures from others, from society and from ourselves to be a certain way. We, purposefully and subconsciously, begin to mold ourselves into the person that we think fits those images.

Maybe it's just dressing a certain way to fit in (which we still do as adults!), but it could also be pursuing a career that others felt was best for you.

I began struggling with low self-esteem when a third-grade classmate informed me that I was fat. It was then that I felt like I didn't fit in anymore. I didn't realize it until I was an adult, but being skinny was tied to my self-worth. This was the beginning of decades of trying to get skinny to be loved, and years and years of destructive behaviors to cope with my low self-esteem.

So how do we let go of those messages we've been telling ourselves and become our true selves?

Today's post is pretty personal. I hope that in sharing my own story, you feel less alone and inspired to continue on your journey to self-love.

Today I want to talk about being diligent in your quest to love yourself. Life changes and our bodies change, and it can be difficult to stay on the path to self-love.

One thing that I've realized is that the journey to loving yourself fully isn't a straight line with a beginning and an end. There are bumps in the road, and sometimes you back track.

Should you lose weight or just accept yourself as you are?

One of my health coaching clients recently asked me if it's ok that she wants to lose weight even though her weight doesn't have a negative impact on her health. Should she just learn to love her body as it is?

Her question made me realize that weight loss has suddenly become out of fashion with the current body acceptance movement.

Don't get me wrong, I love that it's now on trend to love our bodies. We've always had the right to be happy regardless of our shape or size, but the media and society is finally sending that message.

It's amazing to see women of all sizes on the cover of Women's Running or in Modcloth and Target ads.

But how does weight loss fit into to all that.

Summer Body Goals

Posted June 7, 2017 in summer body goals, body positivity, self-love and 5 more

Imagine if we obsessed about the things we loved about our bodies instead of the things we hate. Make your summer body goal to love yourself more!

Summer-Body-Goals.png#asset:8024:medium

What if your summer body goals included loving your body more, thinking kinder thoughts about your body and speaking kinder words about your body?

Those goals feel a lot different than lose 10 pounds, get a flat stomach and get rid of cellulite.

I've spent summer after summer with the second set of goals, and they always left me feeling totally miserable. I spent too much time comparing myself to others, wishing my body was different and avoiding all activities that involved swimwear or shorts.

It's totally OK if you'd like to lose a some weight or get stronger. But what if you began your journey by learning to love your body?
