Meditation is actually an effective treatment for stress, anxiety, worry, relationship issues and more. It can also help you tap into your creativity and intuition, and help you stay more focused on every day tasks.

Studies have shown that meditation actually helps preserve your brain, diminishes a wandering mind, reduces symptoms of depression and anxiety, improves concentration and attention and improves mood and well-being (source).

You may not know this about me, but I have a sweet tooth.

This blog, and now health coaching business, are named Sweet Success because of my love for sweet treats.

What's my favorite sweet treat? Ice cream in the summer, scones in the fall, holiday cookies in the winter and chocolate in the spring. Oh, and cake. I love cake.

In the past, my sugar cravings were closely related to my emotional state. This is another story for another day. But today, my sugar cravings are closely related to my body's level of exhaustion.

While there are so many things that make this time of year wonderful - holiday parties, twinkling lights, wrapping gifts, baking goodies - the holidays can also be a bit stressful.

Our calendars are full of shopping dates, holiday events and so much more. 

I'm definitely feeling a bit stressed this year as I'm already working on big projects for the new year. I know you'll all have big goals for 2016, and I'm working on some exciting things in my health coaching business! 

But that stress can make it challenging to enjoy all the little things that happen during the holidays. This is one of my biggest struggles…being present. I'm a list maker, a dreamer, a goal setter and a doer, so I'm constantly thinking about what's to come. However, I know I'm sometimes missing out on the now.
