Weekend Recap {Jan. 2-4}

I'm back at work today after nearly two weeks off! My holiday break flew by and, to be honest, I'm not ready to be back at work.

I had a long list of things I wanted to accomplish during my break, and I got through just a handful of them - watching as many Christmas movies as possible, relaxing, launching my new health coaching business (!!), creating a Sweet Success newsletter (sign up here), teaching extra fitness classes, spending tons of time with my family, organizing my home office and taking time to myself.

There were some things I didn't get to, but I feel like my break was a good mix of spending time with people I care about, relaxing and being productive. Full disclosure, I was either wearing workout clothes or pajamas during my entire break. It was the best.

I'm actually feeling a bit under the weather today. This happened to me last year also. As soon as my holiday break was over and I had to go back to work, I got sick. Maybe my immunity gets weak because I drink wine and winter beers nearly every evening during my vacation!

Set Yourself Up for Your Most Successful Year

One of the reasons that most New Years resolutions fail is because we don't take the time to plan.

I don't even know how many times I started the year saying I wanted to lose 15 pounds. Then, just a few weeks later, I was skipping workouts or going back to my unhealthy eating habits. I felt like I had failed, so I gave up on my resolution. 

My downfall was that I didn't have a plan. I hadn't created a clear action plan that would help get me back on track when I veered from healthy eating and working out. Accomplishing a goal never happens on a straight road. We go up steep hills, take U-turns, get lost and back track. But when we have a plan, it makes it easier to keep going even if we've lost our way for a bit.

There are a few tools that I use to create plans to accomplish my goals. These are super simple things that will help you plan for success!

Friday Faves {Cycles}

There's nothing in nature that blooms all year long, so don't expect yourself to do so either.


It's been forever since I shared some of my recent favorite things. I love doing these posts because I love sharing the random wellness things that are helping me live my healthiest and happiest life. 

Today's favorite things all have to do with cycles. This is something I've been obsessed with lately. I first started thinking about cycles when I began following Kate Northrup. She teaches the cycles to sustainable success, which I'm still learning about and trying to implement into my life and business. 

Basically, our society tells us to keep moving full steam ahead, but we should really be working in cycles - allowing time for rest and regeneration before producing more. 

I love this idea because I've experienced burn out, overwhelm, stress and exhaustion from constantly creating and producing. 

So I'm sharing some of my favorite things that are helping me track cycles and live a more cyclical life rather than a linear one...
