Weekend Recap {April 1-3, 2016}

Posted April 4, 2016 in Weekend Recap , running, half-marathon training and 9 more

I hope you had a weekend filled with relaxation and rejuvenation!

Before the weekend began, I made a long list of things I felt needed to be done. But I ended up feeling like I needed some down time to rest and recover.

I have a lot on my plate at the moment, and I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed. Sometimes some Real Housewives is just the cure for feelings of overwhelm!

Yoga-Teacher-Training-Weekend-4-Restorat

Happy Tuesday! I'm late posting my weekend recap because I had an exhausting (but wonderful) weekend in yoga teacher training and then I was in Omaha all day Monday for a visit with my functional medicine doctor.

Today I'm getting caught up on emails, scheduling health coaching sessions, blogging, doing laundry and preparing for the college class I'll be teaching (which starts next week!)…oh yeah, and working at my full-time job. My life is crazy and amazing.

It's National Yoga Month!

I think every month should be yoga month, but apparently September is a month dedicated to raising awareness about the health benefits of yoga and inspiring people to try yoga. I support that!

Throughout the month, I'll definitely be writing more about yoga. Tell me what you want to know! A beginner yoga sequence, tips for creating a home practice, tips for attending your first yoga class, my yoga wish list, what I've learned in yoga teacher training, yoga clothing recommendations. Share in the comments below what you want to know about yoga.

I only have three months left of yoga teacher training, and I'll probably start teaching yoga classes in November! This has been my year of yoga! Which is why I'm excited to share some of my recent yoga faves. This is what I've been loving lately...

While I love taking studio yoga classes, they don't always fit into my schedule. Which is why I started practicing yoga at home.

The best things about practicing yoga at home are that you don't have to commit to a full-hour of yoga, you can wear your pajamas and you can drink coffee. Yes, something I break out of tadasana (Mountain Pose) to take a sip of coffee.

The hard thing about practicing yoga at home is taking that first step to start an at-home yoga practice. I get it, binge watching Netflix can seem a lot more appealing than rolling out your yoga mat.

But making time for yoga has about a trillion rewards for your mind, body and soul (that's an exaggeration, but it's a lot).

So here are a few things you can do to begin your yoga practice at home...

How was your weekend?

My weekend was full of yoga, seeing friends, hanging out with my family, relaxing and eating delicious food.

I really needed to have a weekend without a to do list, and just go with the flow. It was nice to relax when I needed it and have some impromptu fun outings.

Here's a look at the weekend...

New Yoga Classes!

I've had to keep this news to myself for a few weeks because I was waiting to sign the lease, but now everything is official....I'm teaching yoga classes at a shared yoga studio downtown!!

I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity and excited to share yoga with more people in my community. It's going to be so much fun!

This all came together in the past month. A friend from my entrepreneur group introduced me to her friend, Bobbi, who owns Kearney Ashtanga Based Yoga. Bobbi had just leased the yoga studio and was looking to collaborate with a few other yoga teachers. I can't even explain how excited I am to be a part of this!
